4TB RAID 5 3Ware SATA II

New:

Got it all ordered...Finished with:

New:
Intel i5 2500k Sandy Bridge Quad Core
16GB DDR3 1600
6950 2GB
4TB RAID 5 3Ware SATA II
New Case and 850 Watt power supply.

Parts are here tomorrow..case on Friday.

I think I will move my old desktop into the living room for 720p...it has more then enough power to run EVERYTHING at MAX on that screen size...just can't do 1080p anymore..

Anyone ever use those 360 Wireless Adapters for controllers? Thanking that maybe a good idea...

I don't like batteries on desktop PCs. I would get the wired one.

But I like Starcraft 2.

My next upgrades for my PC is SSD (128g+), video card (ATI 4550 is too slow) and PSU 650W+ to supply all that power.

I haven't had a desktop for a few years, but set one up yesterday. Its more for work than gaming, and is intended as an 'always on' machine that will supplement the chromebook.

Hardware:
HP Microserver Chassis (Only 130 with cashback - bargain!)
Extra 4Gb RAM
USB Sound card.

The chassis can support up to 8Gb RAM and 4 SATA disks, has low power consumption and is nearly silent. The only thing that isn't ideal is the non-upgradable, 1.6GHz CPU but I can live with that thanks to the compelling price. The 130 included a 250Gb disk and 1Gb RAM to get started.

I was going to add a flash drive for readyboost but it isn't worth it as this thing won't be rebooted routinely. I will be adding a widescreen monitor that is roughly the same proportions as the chromebook screen to make VNC a nicer experience - my current LCD monitor is 4:3.

Software of note:
Win 7 Pro
ThinVNC (remote desktop from the chromebook)
Subsonic (stream music to chromebook/android)
Dropbox (to sync local code files so I can edit them on the chromebook using sourcekit)
Drupal CMS (For work)

I have a HP Micro at work running our companies various In/Out Boards... works great. I think you will like it. Mine is running Red Hat (no X) seems really low temp and low power..plus super small which is nice since I am running out of Rack room.

LOL I am bad also at Starcraft. I need to learn to "Macro" better. But that doesn't stop me from watching SC2 matches on Youtube and Teevox.

Also I want the new Duke Nukem Forever game.

Duke isn't great in a modern sense but really fun in a 90's way.

My Micro is garage..Macro is ok and build orders are getting better...2v2 I do better...but 1v1 I don't know when to strike or when to keep building....
