I have not tried the Chrome OS as of yet, but I remember that the Android OS had similar problems when it first launched. Hopefully those problems will be fixed by the time the Chromebook is fully released.

I just want to say that I have used the webcam in Google chat just fine. I have used the SD card slot to upload pictures to Picasa just fine. Also, my battery is charging fine and holds a charge for extremely long period of time (I lightly use the computer daily and charge it maybe every three days).

I agree about Java and Netflix...those things are disappointing.

Netflix is now a staple... Chromebooks will need that type of support to grow mainstream.

We at least know that they are working on it. Google says Chromebooks will be ready for Netflix by the time they start taking orders.

Netflix is java related.
Chromebook also can't play .avi, .mp4, or .mkv files.
No Offline mode is a buzzkiller for me too.

Netflix uses Silverlight, not Java.
Chrome OS supports .mp4 files.
Offline mode is coming for Google Docs, Calendar, and Gmail. Other HTML5 apps already have offline capabilities.

Keep in mind, Chromebooks aren't meant to replace your existing media platform. Multimedia capabilities are more of an extra perk than anything else.

They might not be there to replace multimedia apps but playing a local file via flashdrive/network would be appreciated.
