Third-Party Apps

I wonder if Google will even allow such a thing. Do you think Chromebooks will support third-party apps down the road, or if they even should?

Music Functionality

I hope the Google music team has a plan for the Chromebook allowing easy access to third-party music libraries - in my case an extensive Rhapsody library

On Chrome OS, everything runs in the Chrome browser, and you get apps from the Chrome Web Store: https://chrome.google.com/webstore
There are plenty of third party apps, and you can also run them in Chrome on Windows, Mac OS, or Linux.
