I'm not overly familiar with Android apps, so I went looking through it today. It seems to have all the usual stuff-- office, games, etc-- and I was just wondering if the Android app store had anything in it that the other app stores don't have. Like, is there anything unique in the store I should definitely buy because it's so cool and special and not available anywhere else?
Android !=Chromeos. Some facts to help you decide which you want:
Chromeos devices all have keyboards, and work only with the web and web apps.
Android devices all have touch screens and can have locally installed apps.
Android apps don't work on chromeos.
Android has been around for a few years on smartphones, and for a year or so on tablets.
It has an enormous number of apps in the Android marketplace, which you can browse online but only install from on an Android device.
Chromeos is brand new, and so has far fewer apps at the moment, but they are all based on the HTML5 standard. This should mean that apps for chromeos also work with any web browser, and so we expect/hope the number of apps to increase rapidly. Right now, the choice of chromeos apps is very limited.
You get apps for chromeos from the chrome web store, which you can access using the chrome web browser from a normal computer.
There is overlap between the two: both will play media, surf the web, and handle email.
Hope this helps!
