chrome box connected to Samsung smart tv

The Chrome box has two USB ports on the front. What are they for? Can I plug in a pen drive and watch the videos which are in it's memory? I have tried this. On the Chrome desktop I can't find any menu from which I can select the USB device. Since Chrome box is a computer I expected this to work. It doesn't.

How do I watch videos from a pen drive plugged into my Chrome box. If I can't why are they there in the first place?

ps... I know that Chromebox is Linux and, as such, any one of many file systems should be detected and the pen drive mounted. Linux is much more versatile than Microsoft in this respect.

Hi Nancy,

I have no knowledge of Chromeboxes but I imagine that you could use a USB port for a flash drive or even a hard drive. One usb port will be needed perhaps for a USB wireless dongle for a wireless keyboard so that you can communicate with the Chromebox. The tv would act as the screen of course. On my Samsung tv it is necessary to select 'source' then the HDMI port that the computer is connected to.

I apologise if you already know all this.
