What's difference between installing an app and using the browser to access a site?

Say for instance Netflix, there is an app and you can also navigate to it and use the browser to watch a movie.

Is there a difference? Does one take up more space than the other?

Thanks,

Walter

Huge difference though the diff is not always apparent when you look at an app like that.

Google provides a large programming framework for the app / extension developer to interact with the Chrome Browser, ChromeOS and Google Drive. The developer uses this framework to develop all kinds of functionality that a website can't match because it doesn't use the framework.

Example, a simple Chrome extension that I use that is very similar to its website equivalent is Pixlr. Its a Phoyoshop-like flash-based image editor thats practically identical to the website.

Using the same example, the Pixlr Chrome extension adds itself to your Google Drive so that it can open and edit pictures you upload to your Google Drive directly. The website can't do that.
