That list would be pretty short. ChromeOS is a browser, apps are written in HTML and JavaScript, and run either as browser extensions (hidden windows) or browser tabs/popups (visible windows). Media player and file manager are no exception, as far as users are concerned. There is a growing number of apps available on the market.

As others said, you can play media off external storage, e.g., microSD card, USB stick, camera or your phone in 'storage' mode. MP3, MP4 and JPEG work; WMA/WMV do not. I don't know if there's a list of currently supported formats somewhere.
