Samsung Chromebook Series 5 pricing

just a heads up for those of you that are interested. finally found pricing on samsung's chromebook series 5. no word yet on availability. pricing is $429.99 for the wifi only model and $499.99 for the 3g version. as an extra bonus for 3g users verizon is offering 100mb of free access for the first two years. im assuming this is if you get it from verizon and its 100mb per month.

I wonder what kind of rate plan you have to get from Verizon to get that 100MB?

the deal doesn't sound too bad at all and im liking the bonus with the 3g version of 100mb free access per month. any idea what the overcharge is if you go over the 100mb free per month?

100mb/month doesn't sound like too much, i wonder how easy it is to go over that.

100 mb per month is nothing! But i guess you don't use much 3g, because Wifi will usually be the first choice (especially when downloading movies etc)

100MB is nothing, you'll go over with that even with compressed Data encryption enabled. 100MB is easily overpasses esp with today's Flash Heavy Websites.

Also with loading you tube videos its become a huge stain and take a lot of bandwidth up!

I guess the 100MB is designed for the "must do right now" business applications and the assumption is that for the rest the average user will use WiFi

I am a volunteer teacher of computers and software for hundreds of seniors at large senior centers here in Colorado. When will the 4G come out and how much will that cost?

I have a 15 year old desktop computer (Pentium 1, 133mhz, 512 RAM, tiny hard drive and it smokes and overheats and shuts down on its own whenever it wants). So I am ready for something new and it seems that the Samsung Chromebook will be just what I need. But is there any idea when the first price drops will start hitting after the June 15th release?

I'm guessing the price drops will occur gradually as more brands release chromebooks in the months after launch. Suddenly there's a chromebook with XYZ that the launch ones didn't have, thus driving down the price of the original ones.

Give it a few months (unless they can't keep any in stock!).
