How does the SD card slot work?
I was thinking about purchasing a 32GB SD card for in my chromebook, my question is if i put lets say music on it, will it be possible to play that music? I have limited bandwidth so streaming isnt always a good option.

(my only internet connection available where I live is a verizon mifi 5GB)

thanks for any help

For sure, you can use a Chrome App like Media Player ( to play tunes from the media card and online

Yeah, there are a ton of music apps out there and I would think that many of them would have a solution for music saved to an SD card. I can play music on my phone from and SD card so I don't see what you couldn't do it on a Chromebook.

ok cool i got that app, another question i thought of does the SD card stick out at all or is it flush just like the dummy card that came in the SD slot?

It is flush like the dummy card.

My MicroSD>SD converter sits proud of the Samsung Series 5 by a few mm - enough to snag on when putting it in a bag or sleeve. I think the blank is a bit shorter than the standard SD card size.

how can you download from your sd card to samsung chromebook

Not absolutely certain how the Samsung CB works, but with the Acer C720, I simply insert the SD card, dragging and dropping files as required, within the files section, which should open when the SD card is inserted...

I would half imagine, your machine will operate in a similar fashion...

Just remember to eject the card before removal, to avoid the possible loss of data... You should be able to do that by right clicking on the SD card tab...

SD card sticks out
I have an Acer C720. the card sticks out quite a bit 3/4 inch. This is just about the only gripe I have with this model.

That's true, it does tend to protrude somewhat... But, as with all intuitively designed equipment, it's a small price to pay for such generously priced machinery...

Apart from cameras (and the like) where cards are spring loaded, what other equipment has a card (or memory stick) that doesn't protrude!
