New to me C710-2856

I just purchased a used chromebook for $50. I thought it was a steal. So far I love the platform and it works great for me and what I need. My problem is that even after a powerwash and nothing being downloaded onto the system my file manager only shows just over 500 MB free of the 16 GB ssd that comes on the laptop. I can't find where anything is that could be taking up the space. It was just powerwashed. Any suggestions. I am very new to the chromebook platform so I don't know much.

screenshot added

Attached a pic of the file browser. I have nothing in downloads, offline, or recent. There are only a couple files in my drive folder but are not set for offline and are only word and excel files anyway. I can't figure out why I only have 504 mb free. I know the OS takes some space so I won't see 16 gb or close, but I would think I would have at least 10-12 gb free since I have had the computer 3 days and powerwashed it when I purchased it.

Maybe, just maybe, that is why the CB was so cheap, because it had that particular fault... Can't imagine how or why it should have lost so much space, other than someone may have had it apart and tampered with the internal components...

Not a lot of help to you in reality, but just a suggestion that might have some relevance...

Just found this on the internet... It might apply to your problem, it might not.. It involved using part of the SSD as virtual memory, thus leaving less memory for other uses...

Take a look read it all and see what you think...

Please let me know how you get on...

I tried to disable the swap and nothing has changed. What is odd that the amount of space varies. One time it will say over 500 mb and then later it will show around 480 and I have downloaded or stored nothing.

It didn't show anything. It just told me what it was going to do and it may change the performance of the computer(which it didn't). I don't think it had been swapped anyway.
