I envision that the Google Chromebook will make it possible for people to become more flexible in their work. Do you think that it will help people get to work out of their homes more often, as opposed to in the office all day?
If you are working for a company where the only concern is accessing work content then yes, in theory I suppose it could help. That said there are already a lot of technologies that allow for that, the reason companies haven't adopted them yet is that there is an intangible benefit to being in the presence of your peers IMHO.
That is a good point. I already do a little work from home, but I love being with people too. I think what the Google Chromebook will do is just make it faster and easier to do what we already do at home.
I dunno, some of the guys at my office are really getting on my nerves! What would be cool would be to get 1 week of paid vacation and 2 weeks (pick your own) when you can work out of your home.
I think it all depends on the company. Some jobs just really like to see their employees and want them to work during certain work hours. If they worked from home, they would probably want to work their own hours.
