I can use Google Play for books, movies and songs. Did you mean apps from the Google Store? The apps are built for either Android or Chrome and may not work on both OS.

Only Spotify was available in the Google Chrome Web Store. Only the apps available in the Chrome Store can be downloaded for a chromebook.

It can't hurt, but I would recommend hands on trial at a local store and making sure the screen, weight and available ports are what you want.

I get the same error message on the new Samsung 11.6" in the US. The thread looks like it is old and refers to a previous chromebook version.
