Is there a way to get my acer c7 to accept a 4g stick?

I went through this and after, I think, I right clicked it, it asked if I wanted to format the usb. It probably was FAT32 new, and I am not sure what chrome wants. My problem is trying to get anything but a Text doc to load on to it. I can't get any help as to organize the folders, and I can't put a You Tube video, or actually just the URL to pull up later. There seems to be a lot of, what should be simple questions, and very few answers.
