Chromebooks Will Be Available On Virgin America Flights

That is awesome, I hope more airlines get on board with this idea!

Looks like I'm going to be snacking on my words tonight! Earlier this week I mocked someone for suggesting that this exact thing was possible.

It sounds really cool, I hope it succeeds and more things like it are to come.

Awesome! So now I have to wonder if searching the web on a Chromebook that is sitting comfortably in my lap as I'm 35,000 feet in the air could have the "power" to pull my horrific and racing thoughts apart from all the ways I just know I'm gonna die in that lurking airplane crash...and rather onto more pleasant thoughts of lilies in a field, and the aroma of sweet smelling honeysuckle wafting through the air, and giant willow trees swaying gently by a cool, refreshing brook......Cuz heck, if that's the case then the major panic I experience in an airplane some 35,000 feet in the air could lose its "power" to keep me from flying high ever again!

Very nice!! Now the other questions are: does it keep history records? Is it vulnerable to viruses and malware? And most importantly, will they be monitoring what people are using them for?

When you login your account it encrypts all and just sets up your Chromebook just like your Chrome browser was. There isn't going to be viruses or Malware because a reboot would kill anything because of the verified boot process. And yes Virgin should and will monitor everything done from those machines. It will keep logs of places visited with data's and such. That is only because they want to keep safe if someone is doing something illegal on those machines.

I really hope we see Chromebooks everywhere..the more in the field and people use them they will see the true value in the platform.

I hope so too and I completely agree with you. I am pretty amazed at how many people I've talked to that haven't even heard of a Chromebook, let alone Google's ChromeOS!!! I was at Walmart the other day and Walmart carries both Samsung and Acer laptops. I asked the sales lady in that department if she by any chance had heard yet if and when Walmart would start carrying and selling the new Acer and Samsung Chromebooks. She looked at me like I was a loony-nut case (as does my family...STILL), but I guess I can't blame them.....I am a little loony, but darn it, I'm not a nut case....Or am I???

Wow, that's cool. I've never flown on Virgin before but I'm glad that companies are picking up the Chromebook/Chrome OS so rapidly. It'll make flying a lot more fun, that's for sure.

Good to know! One more thing that occurred to me -- I wonder how they will keep people from absconding with the Chromebooks? Will they get credit card info?

The way they will keep people from absconding with the Chrome Books is the same way retailers keep people from running off with their merchandise. Google check out handles credit card info.
