:Couldn't load plug-in" message

My Chromebook has worked fine until about a week ago. Since then, whenever I try to play a video, I get this error message "Couldn't load plug-in."

I am not tech savvy and I have no idea what plug-in isn't loading or how to fix it even if I did.
