I have read elsewhere that a 'CR-48' model can boot with either Ubuntu or Chrome.

I'm hoping that Ubuntu could help me with my Wireless adapter and Backtrack issues therefore can anyone tell me how to find out if my model is 'Cr-48'?

the cr-48 was a free laptop given out a little while back. You would know it you have one, so you do not. You can look at the bottom and find the model number. Type that and how to install Ubuntu and you should have what you seek.
