I received the Chromebook email from Gilt. Found this place searching online to make sure it wasn't a scam. 'Sharing?'
What kind of an invite was it? I never know if I am getting spam - if I got it, I probably would have deleted it. Figures - that's just my luck!

Rob, the invitations/emails are still going out to some of those who participated in the 60,000-unit pilot program. Perhaps you'd like to clarify what you mean by sharing. The invitation? It's not a deal though. I think they just offer a free cover with the 3G version for $499.
How do they go about choosing the people they want to send those to? Is it just random, or is there some type of application to fill out?
The emails are from Google's Chrome Team and appear focused on Google's Cr-48 pilot program participants. I sure wasn't a participant. A hopeful, but no participation.

The link includes my email in the address as well. I think it is a targeted offer for some reason.
EDIT: And they are now OOS. Wow. Fast.
We still have to pay for the new laptop unfortunately. It'd be awesome if we could get it as a gift.

Pardon my speculation. I was guessing. My email came from the Google Chrome Team. I have no information about where other emails might have come from nor what the recipients have in common that got them included.I signed up to participate in the Cr-48 pilot program but wasn't included.
