The Chrome book may not be the best thing yet, but it's good for a lot of things we need.

But it is missing out on some vital things we use on a daily basis.
I think the Chrome book WILL need most of the features list to help make it complete.

What do you guys think?
Any features it should have that aren't listed below?

Google Chromebook 10 Missing features
Recently Google launched their new product Google Chromebook, Google Chromebook is a notebook build on the chromium OS from Google. Chromebooks are built and optimized for the web, so you get a faster, simpler and more secure experience without all the headaches of ordinary computers. If you are planning to buy Google Chromebook and want to replace it with iPad or your notebook, than you have to look about these missing features in Google Chromebook.

1. Can’t connect to Wi-Fi networks requiring a certificate:- Google is working on adding support for Wi-Fi networks that use security certificates.

2. NetFlix:-With Netfilx you can Watch TV Shows & Movies Online, but Netflix is not supported Google Chromebook. That means you won’t be able to enjoy your Netflix movies on Chromebook.

3. Can’t change photo for accounts:- The photo for user accounts on the Chrome notebook is set during the initial set-up. Currently, it’s not possible to change the photo of the owner account after it’s been set.

4. Bluetooth:- Google Chromebook doesn’t support Bluetooth now. So you can not use Bluetooth headset or mouse with it.

5. Can’t scroll horizontally using two fingers on the touchpad:- This feature is not supported till now with Google ChromeBook.

6. SD card or USB drive:- Did not support these features right now. So you can,t use USB drives and SD card with Google Chromebook.

7. GPS:- While the Cr-48′s hardware has GPS capability, but Google Chromebook do not currently support this feature. So forget about Facebook check-ins and location-based tweets.

8. Adjust volume or mute device:- This is a known issue and they are working on fixing it. So till now you can Mute or Adjust volume in Chromebook.

9. Website or app can’t access webcam:- The version of Flash supported by Chrome OS does not contain camera support. Therefore, websites or web apps that use Flash won’t be able to activate the webcam on your Chrome notebook. They working on improving this experience.

10. Can’t use Java:- Java is currently not supported, so forget about websites that uses java or run java applets.

From personal use of a Cr-48, I can state that #3 is false. #6 is false. #8 is false. #9 is true for some apps, but not for others.

Other Cr-48 users may have first-hand knowledge of some of the other points.

What's lacking

The bluetooth is going to be a biggie for me, because I use my laptop frequently to make presentations. Not having a bluetooth remote that frees me from the notebook is unacceptable.

Also, the lack of USB drive support will be an issue. Since the computer doesn't have a DVD drive, a USB peripheral would be a good option . . . if it was supported. Otherwise it will be a deal breaker for alot of users.

Because there is USB support and because there are USB remote controls, I think you'll find this product can be used for your presentations. I have not tried to use a remote control with the Cr-48, but I have used both USB & SD devices.

I thought all of those things were from the Dev models they had out for testing earlier versions of the Chrome OS. I think most, if not all, of those points refer to early builds and do NOT apply to the Chromebook product that is being released June 15.

after an impulse purchase on Gilt, as a result of receiving an email yesterday, I started reading some of the features, and 'issues' with this $ 500+ purchase that I made. I went to the Gilt website, tried to cancel the order, but the order page said that there are no returns or cancellations!!!!
Wow!
How about that?!!! What would you suggest. Guess it's going on ebay as a NIB (new in box) item for sale.
so many things are not yet supported, it seems that this is a very expensive product doomed to fail.

Let me make certain I understand. First, you purchased a product you had not thoroughly researched from a company offering purchasing terms that you hadn't researched. Then, you do some research. Then, you try to cancel an order that can't be cancelled. Now, you are saying the product itself is doomed to fail.

As a user of the Cr-48 since December (with the Cr-48 as my primary day-to-day computer) I can assure you the list of deficiencies stated here and other places are either inaccurate or works-in-progress. The success or failure of Chromebooks is going to depend on far more than any (dated) list of deficiencies you may claim to understand.

I want to assume anything that was not at the CR-48 might well be in the Chromebook but either way, I am sure Google is going to make it something worth having in the long run.
Absolutely agree with this... Yesterday (maybe today, too... I haven't checked) Google had huge Chrome banner ads with video at the top of NYTimes.com. One was a Dan Savage "it Gets Better" video, the other was the Daniel Lee spot. They seem to be really behind Chrome in a way I haven't seen them push anything else.I think they're going to be responsive to user feedback, and with the cycle of updates they've had just n the last year, I think they'll aggressively provide features users want.

Call me crazy, but i think I'd try it out BEFORE you put it up for sale.

Does anyone here understand that the Cr-48 has been under continuous improvement and enhancement ever since it shipped? Do people understand that this is the first personal computer that actually improves over time rather than becoming a bit sluggish with each addition of an OS update or new app? Do people realize that there are features built into the Cr-48 that haven't even been enabled yet in the OS?

There are few places where the term "paradigm shift" is appropriate, but this is one of them. For the vast majority of computer users ChromeOS as operational on a Chromebook will be the only "full-fledged" operating system they'll ever need or want.

I agree with you 6sigma, that people have to see and understand what sort of paradigm shift the Chromebook is heralding. I have reason to believe it will improve over time; for now, let us look forward to June the 15th.
