Is it just me or do these guys all miss the point? Why couldn't an Intel Ultrabook run Chrome OS?? It seems to make sense and that would essentially make it a "chromebook"

On the other side of the spectrum are Google's recently announced Chromebooks, which have also promised to reinvent mobile computing with their low cost and Web-centric platform. While Ultrabooks seem to go after the premium laptop category, Chromebooks are targeting budget users, as evidenced by a monthly subscription plan for business and education users and a starting price of $349 for the 11.6-inch Acer Chromebook. Chromebooks don't advertise processing power or extraordinary aesthetics as much as they do ease of use and cloud connectivity.

My PCWorld colleague Tom Bradley has predicted Chromebooks are doomed to fail, while TheStreet writes that Google Chromebook outshines Intel Ultrabook. Clearly these new mobile devices are meant to serve different audiences-and yet both are attempting to revive the laptop/netbook category overall. Which do you think will work?

It could be a chrome book as long the Chrome OS is installed....

I think Intel is just trying to get in on the new innovation of netbooks and take some credit so they can make some money. I am not impressed with what they have released about it yet.

i believe the Chrome OS can be installed in any computer that fits the Chrome OS system requirements. but as more companies jump on the idea of doing something similar they might try to lock out the ability to install their competitors OS on their device.

but then some hacker will crack the code lol

Well, ... why would someone install Chrome OS and try to run it like a Mac/PC with all the "clutter"? Just get a Chromebook.
