I-Book, Kindle, B&N Nook, etc...

I am a volunteer teacher of computers and software for hundreds of seniors at large senior centers here in Colorado. Many of them love the I-book and Kindle-type of e-books to read.

Is this available on the system?

Kindle reader for chromebooks ? Since google and amazon are pretty fierce competitors, my guess is no, but there will be e-readers, but may or may not support the various formats in use. As for apple's iBooks, probably not.

e-books are digital books. Heck Google Books is available online, and so is Amazon's E-books. you can read right in the browser, so yes you can do that with Chrome OS.

Also as stated Amazon has apps in the Chrome Web Store.

If you want to use your computer as a Kindle, doesn't that defeat the purpose? I guess it's ok to read books on the computer, but a Kindle in itself is more compact and portable. To be honest, I am still not too keen on reading a book without pages that I can turn.

I believe the e-books will be available though I don't know much about Kindle e-books on the computer. E-readers are quite handy and I've found some times where it was convenient to read a book on my actual computer, mostly for school!
