A little bit odd question, but, if my chromebook is not connected via either wifi or 3G, can I get logged-in to the system itself? I realize that there is going to be little or no 'local' processing possible, but will authentication work while totally disconnected? Cached credentials, for example. Why? maybe to read an ebook or listen to music from an SD card or flash/thumb drive while riding in a car ...

This is a good question.... I am going to assume that yes there would be some basic functionality, perhaps as a "guest" user.... but not sure about anything more than that. There will be Google Docs "offline" available, so there must be some offline functionality and login capability.

Hmmm....I haven't read anything regarding the actual authentication logging in, if I was a betting man I'd have to think that you still login with your google account, and that there is a local cache file, encrypted of course, that it authenticates against in the case of no Internet connection.
