Mine works as expected. Since you didn't list the directions you were following, I will list them here in case there is some difference:
Go to the wrench and click on Settings. Then click on the Internet tab. For a connected WiFi, click on the Options button, then the Network tab. The MAC address is displayed near the top of that popup.
For the Verizon Wireless line (hover over the line to see the Options button), do the same. Note: The MAC addresses will be different between these two.
