My chromebook has a microphone. How does that work and what is it for. Will it do video chat? How do I use it in the search window?

I have been trying to figure out mine too. My samsung chromebook has a webcam/mic....but not sure how activate it....

You can use your microphone to do a lot of things. Sure, web cam and video chat. If you want to use it to do your search then go to Google's home search page. In the search bar where you type is a picture of a microphone, click it and record, that's it.

You can also use it for Google Translate...which is a ton of fun...

Microphone now works

Voice search didn't pick up my voice. Then I saw in the lower left of gmail "call phone". I made a call and it worked fine. Then I went back to Google search and tried it again and now it works. Lesson learned: Just keep digging.

Yeah, the voice activated search is 3 maybe 4 months old, so you have to expect that there are still some bugs. It seems like it gets better week by week. I really love the feature.
