I think that the Chromebooks will be very successful in education, mainly because many universities already have "gone Google," so the transition won't be that hard, and it will most likely be cheaper to maintain chromebooks than traditional laptops.

I think your premise is accurate not only for education but for a wide range of businesses as well. Having used a Cr-48 since mid-December I find that I'm doing far more on the computer and far less to the computer! It's a big (positive) change.

I think it has alot of up potential for consumers across the board. The last PC laptop that I owned, over the life of the machine before it was toast cost me about $100/mo. to own! A subscription based laptop that you don't have to fool with maintenance, updates, and hardware issues would make alot of sense for alot of people.

I think the Chromebook will be an round thing; both in education and business. Perhaps Google should seal the loopholes that exist. I look forward to the future Chromebook.

I think as a general purpose laptop the Chromebook will do well in education. There are some special programs that will take some time to port over to web only. I am thinking about technical. music, art, and education. It took 20+ years for most of that to develop and I think the transition will be much quicker given the movement to the web today.

There are specialty classes like Digital Media that will require much more powerful machines. But for the typical student who needs a machine for research and word processing, this will fit the bill. The cost will be the most important aspect. You can get more machines in front of kids AND lower your IT costs. It will be a no brainer.

i agree!

This new stage of computing should help make education more fun then it is/was. Also the students that come from low income families can still get the same education as others for a very affordable price.

Invest in education now, and the benefits will follow.
