At home my workhorse is an imac but I'm looking for a portable device but dont really want to spend the money on a mac laptop and buying a windows laptop isnt an option.. I've been looking into chromebook or linux to do some portable tasks when i'm away from my desk. A lightweight, low cost machine that can handle light duties such as surfing the net and watch videos. Recently I brought a flashdrive to best buy to test out the selection of chromebooks to see if they will play my videos. The flash drive had two videos on it.. one from my iphone and one from my security camera.. The video from the iphone which was recorded at 60 fps 1920x1080 played very well, but the video from my security camera which is lower quality had the following specs:
[[ H.264 (Perian), 1280 × 720, Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 44.100 kHz]]
That video was choppy and barely playable. This was the same on all 5 chromebooks on display. Is is possible that these machines require additional software to play? Are there any recommendations on purchasing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks in advance
