newbie bookmark sync question

2025 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  tmanwell
Hi all:

Just got my chrome book today… brand new user.

I have a mac mini as a desktop that also runs the chrome browser. I've **attempted to set my new chrome book to have sync'd bookmarks with my mini's chrome browser, but so far NO LUCK.
Enabling sync on the chrome book was easy. If I have to enable some kind of sync on the mini end, I have not yet found a similar box to check.

I have other questions as well, but I figure this is a good place to start.
Thanks in advance for whatever help anyone can give me. [yes I've tried just googling this, but after about 30mins of rabbit trails I gave up]

Hello T...

Don't know much about syncing bookmarks, because it's something I don't need to do...

Similar to you, I have a desktop computer, but most of the bookmarks are different, because I do different work on either machine... In any case, it's so simple to shift the address from one machine to the other to create a bookmark (if necessary) that I personally wouldn't go to the trouble of trying to sync all pages...

However, if you have any Chromebook queries, I'd be happy to see if I can help with some of those...

Regards...

Robbie....
I guess one reason why I was trying to do it is simply cuz the OS said it could be done. I also have a macbook ...which at first had different bookmarks than my desktop, but now I've sorta discovered that having the same bookmarks across platforms sorta comes in handy.
So, yeah.... I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong... I think this would be a good thing.

Well, I gave up.
One of the things I'm noticing about the Chrome world is that it evidently has changed so much, so rapidly, that many youtube vids are no longer helpful because they are from several rev's ago. This is probably a good thing in terms of the OS evolving, but it has its downside as well.
Thankfully I found 'Xmarks' which seems to be the way everyone else manages this bookmark sync thing.

Ok, on to the next question…
