My friend is in the hospital and unable to speak. I sent him a Samsung Chromebook series 5, Model XE500C21-A04US so he can communicate. He is confined to his hospital room which seems to have a weak Wifi signal.

The main issue is that there is limited wifi in the hospital. He can occasionally get a weak signal and can then get on Chat /E mail.

I fear that we sent him the Wifi only Chromebook.

Is there another way that he can get connected to the intranet without spending additional 200-300 for a Mifi device?

Appreciate hearing from anyone knowledgeable about Chromebook and our options /solution to the matter.

Don, first, I am sorry to hear about your friend.
The only options that I looked for seemed to be much cheaper than 2 or 3 hundred bucks,
Option 1 If your friend has a cell phone that is hotspot capable, the chromebook can connect to it.
Option 2 is to get a sim card for the chromebook. Admittedly, this may need to have an account set up, but your friend will be able to connect just about anywhere.
I am sorry I do not have any other answers.
