Never having used the search key before (the key where the Caps lock key normally is), I decide to see exactly what happens when it is pressed. Expecting some sort of search field to open (like Ctrl+K), I was surprised to see my current tab disappear.

At least on my CB, the "Search" key kills the current tab and does not perform any kind of search function. I don't know if this is a Samsung problem, a Chrome OS problem, or just my machine. What do others experience when using the Search key?

In my case, it does not create a new tab, it closes the one you are in at the time...not good. It is the equivalent of a Ctrl+W. If it isn't going to provide a search, it should at least do no harm.

Since it doesn't provide any useful function, I can see where the hack to turn it into a shift-lock key makes a lot of sense.

I have an acer, if i click the search tab it opens a new tab- and I still do this quite often because of programming for caps; but if I press search again, it removes new tab and take me back to what I was working on, fyi
