What is also impressive is that Chrome forced the other browsers to make big performance improvements, which were required for Google's vision of rich internet applications. This has changed the shape of the IT industry.
Think about how often Firefox updates now, I just updated to version 7 today and I feel like it was yesterday that I updated to version 6. Without question Chrome is what caused that.
