I want to use my chromebook for streaming (from my dreambox, my wd-live or from internet radio plugin). This works fine on my Linux-PC using vlc plugin in chrome.
As chromebook is Linux with chrome, I hope it is also possible.
I guess I have to install a chrome extension, but unfortunately there seems to be none.

Any hints?

I think you may be SOL with that specific solution, but subsonic works just fine with me for music streaming. It can do video too but I haven't tried it.

Anything that has a HTML5 client should be fine too. The HTML5 code for playback is pretty simple so you may be able to roll your own.
