Could it be that Chromebook sales are going swimmingly, and we should be encouraged? Or should we be concerned that the manufacturers didn't get their act together quickly enough for the June 15th launch? Read more

Seems more like a failed launch, given that only one of the four Chromebooks are available. I love mine, though.
I don't get the "if the internet's not connected, you're computer is a brick if it's not connected to the internet. If I don't have the internet with my laptop, There's not much I'm going to do with it. What am I going to do offline? Create a spreadsheet in the woods?

I get that it's nice to have offline capabilities, but I think the objections are overstated. You can play media (music and movies) offline with a USB device. Once google docs go offline, I think the criticism will be baseless.

On a side note, I did read a piece over the weekend in which some VP from Google said he was really pleased with demand. I'd link, but I lost track of the article. Otherwise, the release certainly wasn't a big splash.
It was the third best selling laptop on Amazon.com last week.

Haha, Pete! :D Funny, and also pretty true. It's nice to be able to do stuff offline, but every time the internet cuts out around here I get off the laptop and wait for it to come back anyway, so I don't get much done offline. Anyway-- glad to hear the Chromebook is (basically) doing well despite the problems with the launch.
It sucks that people didn't back Google hard on this..but at the same time the Launch of Google TV may have had something to do with that. Plus there history of products being super Beta at launch. I am proud to see people support the idea of Chrome OS...it is awesome. I wonder how long until we see Motherboards with it built in..that would be awesome.

Hit F4 to boot in Chrome...4 seconds later...on the web...
