I have a feeling that the whole IT industry is headed for a change in doing things with the idea of 'cloud computing' and outsourcing services becoming recently popular.

Do you think anything is set to change?

Back around the millennium the smart companies were deploying web applications.

Today there are successful companies that don't have any IT servers at all - all their software is provided as services over the web.

This is a question most IT departments will want to ponder over because this could simply mean there is going to be a paradgim shift in the near future concerning computing in general.

It might still sound a tad far-fetched because chromebook is not that widely distributed as of yet, although it is a good possibility. I think that ITs will have to retrain themselves to fix other bugs.

I agree nut imagine a world where the Chromebooks are all over and people have embraced cloud computing. Then servers would be a thing of the past. That might take sometime though.
